As noted by the mint, Seen across 60 countries in 20 languages, The Simpsons has been a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon since it first premiered in 1989. In 2018, the animated series reached an incredible milestone by becoming the longest-running primetime scripted show in television history.
The reverse of the coin depicts a representation of Krusty who is one of the most prominent characters in the series outside the Simpson family. He is one of the few to have appeared when The Simpsons were still part of The Tracey Ullman Show in the late 1980s. Show creator and cartoonist Matt Groening based Krusty, in part, on a TV clown from his own hometown known as Rusty Nails. His voice is in the show is done by Bob Bell who played Bozo the Clown on WGN-TV. The design also includes Matt Groenings signature and The Perth Mints P mintmark.
